The Iyengar Yoga Association UK)

Iyengar Yoga Associations exist throughout the world.  The UK organisation was founded in 1977 to spread the teaching of BKS Iyengar and to maintain the teaching standard set by him.

It is solely responsible in the UK for the training and assessment of teachers.  It encourages teachers to maintain an improve their level of practice and knowledge

It maintains a national register of approved teachers and their level of certification.

It publishes a journal twice a year and maintains a web site (www.iyengaryoga.org.uk)

It organises an Annual Convention for all members of the Association.

It also aims to promote and advance the study and practice of, and research into, the therapeutic effects of Iyengar Yoga as a means of improving the mental, physical and spiritual health of the community and to publish the useful results of any such research.

  The Certification Mark

The Certification Mark is a registered trade mark awarded to teachers who are approved members of the Iyengar Yoga Association (UK).

Only properly trained and certified teachers who have maintained their professional development are legally permitted to use this logo.
